In this geographic region we found virgin beaches and a wide variety of wildlife and nature reserves.

The steppe aquatic atmospheres concentrate an intense biodiversity.
Between the shrubs that produce showy flowers and berrie foods, the "Calafate" highlights (Berberis Buxifolia). According to the legend, the one that dares to eat its delicious berries, in spite of its long thorns, will return to the place.
The following species in the region have been declared Natural Monuments: the Southern Right Whale (declared in 1984) and the Huemul (declared in 1996).
The coasts lodge great reproductive establishments of birds and marine mammals. Among the birds we find great colonies of nest building of the magallánico" penguin, the gray gulls, South American little gull and five species of cormorants.
Among the marine mammals we found important populations of sea lions or sea lions of one hair, and of marine elephants of the south. In the marine coast we found other outstanding varieties of cetaceans like killer whale, the dolphins like "tonina overa" and the Franciscan one, and the whales like the southern right whale one, that arrive at little deep and calm waters from patagonia Atlantic to reproduce themselves.
To the Southeast of the province of Santa Cruz, in Leon Mount, there is a place of great scenic beauty and one of the most important posts station of marine fauna of the zone, where every year millions marine wolves of one hair meet themselves.
The extensive beaches of this region stretch from the north to the south. Generally they are rocky and flat. We found to the south desert dune coasts, like Grottos "Las Grutas" (in Rio Negro province), with cliffs of up to 30 meters, ideal for the practice of swimming because of the good temperature of the water.
